March 26: Kanab, UT to Page, AZ. 83 miles, 1.5 hours

We decided to change our scene for the weekend and stop at Antelope Point Marina for the weekend. Saturday was projected to be sunny and 60F, so we rented a boat on Lake Powell for the day.

Captain Greg shared his seat with both kids throughout the day. They were both pretty excited to drive the boat and eat ice out of the cooler. We stopped about an hour out and hung out on the calm, pristine water for lunch.

Greg was determined to take a dip in the water, so after sandwiches he and the kids donned their suits. I put on an extra layer of pants. In the end, Greg was the only soul brave enough to actually enter the water (and did so via a decent backflip; video available on request and captain’s approval). The kids opted instead to pretend to fish with the tie-off ropes.

I had mild concerns that a day on the water wouldn’t offer sufficient opportunity to get enough kid-energy out; but the extra infusion of sun and fresh air put Madelyn to sleep for a couple hours, and even Grayson zoned out for awhile to the sweet sounds of Elton John.

Our walk back to the RV from the Marina was steep but short; and our dinner view was pretty spectacular.
